NOTE in Melrose Chronicle, dated Wed., August 14th, 1996- in the Out of The Past Column-75 YEARS AGO. --August 12, 1921-We under stand that Ross Oliver has rented his farm in North Bend to Charles Yeskie, who is now working a farm in
the Town of Irving. The 1920 census shows a Ross Oliver, age 23 owning a farm on Wilson Creek Rd, apparently adjacent to North Bend Road, and North Beaver Road in North Bend Twp.

Obituary: Charles Yeske- Charles A. Yeske, 78 years, 1047 1/2 Greenbay St., La Crosse, Wis., passed away at the La Crosse Luther Hospital on friday, July 7. He has been under doctors care constantly since february, when he had major
surgery. Charles was born in Parlin, Germany, on February 3, 1883 and came to the US on the boat "Indiana" when he was 2 years old. He was married to Nellie Amborn Aug 6 1906, who preceded him in death in 1933 (February 11th). Charles has
always lived in and around Jackson County until 1934 when he was employed at Sgelke and Kohlhaus Millwork Co. in La Crosse.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, seven sons, Maynard and Robert of Hixton, Wis., Harold, Merlin, Harley, and James, all of La Crosse and Charles of Fresno, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Peter (Mildred) Nesseth, Mrs. Frank (Harriet)
Svoboda, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Walters of La Crosse and Mrs. Jack (Alice) Sweet of Fresno, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; one brother Fred of Melrose; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Balzer and Mrs. John (Emma) Verthein of La
Crosse. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Nellie, One daughter esther and two sons, Spencer and Vilas; one brother and two {three?} sisters.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday from Schumaeher Funeral Home, Rev. Edwin P. Sheppard officiating. Songs sung were "Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages". There were many beautiful floral tributes. Pallbears were Harold Yeske
Jr., Roger Yeske, Wm. Meyer, Donald Svoboda, James and Jerry Yeske. Burial in Melrose cemetery , Melrose, Wis. Lunch was served to all friends and relatives at Mr. and Mrs. Oliver O'Hearn home in Melrose, a niece of the deceased.
