[1061]
Note: {by Son Wally} Ethel was born at home on a farm south east of Hixton about 3 miles on Green acres road, Fire No. 13550. She attend Shady Glen Grade School and rode a pony to High School in Hixton. The pony was kept in a barn just
southwest of the Hgwy 95 bridge. She graduated from High School in 1931. Some time before she got married in 1934, she worked as a servant in the Pray area, east of Black River Falls, and at Warrens, south of Black River. She did obtain a
teaching certificate during this time.
[1062]
She was a very generous, uncomplaining, caring person and must have had great experience in raising children. She appeared to be closer to her younger half-brothers than her full brothers and sisters. And it would appear logical that
she probably was saddled with the responsibility of baby tending. Immediately after marriage she was also care taker for 3 brother-in-laws.
[1063]
She was a very good cook, and even worked in the restaurants in Hixton when they lived in Hixton. Mom worked very hard during her lifetime and had little time for her sewing projects until late in life. One of her specialties was Crazy
Quilts although she did much other needle work.
[1064] The Warrens area is reasonably close to the Cataract area where I believe my dad spent his early life and may have met at a dance.
