[194] OBITUARY:{Melrose Chronicle, Wed. Sept 3, 1997} Belva (Brahner) Yeske, 67, of rural Sparta, died monday, September 1, 1997, in her home.

She was born to Earl and Geraldine (Pfaff) Brahmer on November 29th, 1929, in Elkhorn, Wi. Shortly after that (1932) the family moved from Elkhorn to the Burr Oak Area and later to the Melrose district. Belva was a 1947 graduate of Melrose
High School. In 1948 she married Mervin D. Yeske of Cataract, Wi. Belva Earned her teaching certificate from La Crosse State in 1949, and she taught in the West Germany School in the Town of Little Falls, in Monroe County, Wi.

During the fall of 1950, Belva and her husband moved to the Milwaukee area. While in Milwaukee, Belva was not only employed by Allis Chalmers for twenty-one years, but she also owned and operated two rental stores called Creative Castings.
Belva was a loving and civic minded individual who touched and influenced many lives. She showed this serving countless hours as a volunteer for the New Berlin Hospital, the American Red Cross, church activities and her daily loving actions
towards all who knew her.

Belva retired in 1987 and with her husband moved to Sparta in 1994. She is survived by her husband, Mervin D. Yeske of Sparta, a brother, Everett (Darlene) Brahmer of Melrose, and twenty nieces and nephews; Dennis Yeske, Robert (Bob)
Yeske, David Yeske, Bruve Yeske, Parnela Draskovich, Gregory Yeske, Patricia Schmidt, Vickie Yeske, Cindy Yeske, Gina Colby; also Charles Mears, Thomas Mears, Mary Beth Helm, Michael Mears, Everett E. Brahmer, Nania Brahner, Bethany Brahmer,
Andrea Brahmer, Ronnie Griffen, Dennis Griffen, and twenty-one great nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
[198] Belva was preceded in death by her parents of Melrose and a sister, Beverly Mears of La Crosse

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 1997, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Rev. Jeffrey Miller Officiating. Burial will follow in the Melrose cemetery. Friends may call at Smith Mortuary, Melrose on
Wednesday from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until services. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
