[1092] OBITUARY; Mrs. Fred Yeskie--Jennie Sophie Johnson. daughter of the late Andrew Johnson and wife Anna Nee Hanson, was born Feb. 4, 1888, in the town of Little Falls. Her mother passed away when she was four years old.

In March of 1907 she was united in marriage to Fred Stetzer, and they started farming in Ox Bow where they lived for 11 years. On May 24, 1918 her husband died, leaving her and their four young children. She later took her family and her
aging father moved to near Burr Oak, where they managed a farm a few years.

On Nov. 23, 1931, she was married Fred Yeskie, of Melrose, and came to lthis community to live. She was a member of and active in the Melrose Methodist Ladies Aid, the Legion Auxiliary, and the Bebekah Lodge. About 4 months ago her health
began to fail, and on Nov. 11 she underwent surgery at which time she was suffering of an incurable malady to which she succumbed on Friday, Feb. 12, 1947, at 2 O'clock p.m., at the age of 59 years and 10 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and three sisters, Loise, Anne and Tillie. She is survived by her husband and four children; Ruby, Mrs. Leonard Stetzer, of Chicago; Henry, of Burr Oak; Lyle and Lawrence, both of
La Crosse; six grandchildren and two brothers; Adolph of Melrose, and Henry, of Spirit Lake, Idaho. She leaves five stepchildren, Marie, Mrs. Richard Bitter, and Irene, Mrs. Richard Megrath, both of Whitehall; Helen, Mrs. Oliver O'hearn,
Melrose; Melvin of Melrose, and Leonard, of West Salem. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.

The many friends who attended one of the largest funerals ever held in Melrose, and the beautiful floral offerings and gift funds, were a fitting testimonial of the high esteem in which she was held by the people who knew her. She was a
faithful wife and mother and an exceedingly kind step-mother and will be deeply missed by her family.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 O'clock at the Smith Funeral Chapel and at 2 O'clock at the Methodist church, Rev. H. White officiating. Pallbearers were C.W. Tenner, Wilmer Young, Clarence Schlifer, Albert Fabian, Barney Fisher,
and Sam Amundson. The song service was redndered by Mrs. Florence Gilbertson and Verle Nimo. They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Z. W. Gilbert. The funeral Text was 1 Corinthians Chapter 13. Interment was in Ox BowCemetery.
