OBITUARY: Sparta, Wis., Services for Edwin D. Yeskie, 85 formerly of Sparta, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Lanham-Kahn Funeral Home, Sparta. The Rev Ortwin Hanson will officiate and burial will be in Leon Cemetery, with military
rites by the Sparta Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
[932] Friends may call at the funeral hime today after 4 p.m. and on Tuesday until the services.
[933] Yeskie died Friday, Jan. 2, in Marinette General Hospital.
[934] He was born Dec. 20, 1895, in Mindoro to Edward and Minnie (Stark) Yeske and grew up in the Mindoro and Sparta areas.
[935] He was a World War I Veteran, serving in the army.
[936] He married Hazel Thurston on Dec. 2, 1920, in Sparta. They farmed near West Salem and later near Sparta.
[937] In 1941, they moved to Chicago and in 1946, moved to Menomonee, Mich. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Signal Electric Co., Menomonee.
[938] He had been a post commander of the Sparta Veterans of Foreign Wars and served on the board of directors of the Marinette Assembly of God Church.
[939] Survivors are one son, Alfred of Lampasas, Tx.,; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Grace) Chmela Marinette and Mrs. James (Vivian) Sallgren of Menomonee, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William of La Crosse.
[940] He was preceded by wife, on April 29, 1978, and by one son, one daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
